When the bus gets to the tiny village, Victor and I along with Gary and the ladies from Australia are instructed to get off and with our tour guide we will go see the Elephants. I guess the other people on the bus are the ones trekking. I am thrilled.

The strategy is to very first see the elephants, not ride them. We will then go to a zoo and then walk more than to exactly where the riding elephants are. I am puzzled but we go along with the plan figuring they have this ironed out and all will be fine.

All but 1 of the large elephants is out with riders and we meander above to exactly where the babies are. Cameras come out and cooing begins. We feed them food they can attain on their own and really feel great about ourselves. I reach out to one of the elephants that looks in distress and he swiftly swats me with his trunk. I am grateful not to have been any closer! A fellow rides more than on an elephant who poses for images. This time I am not swatted and sit on an extended elephant knee.

Across the way is a patch with what looks to be frames of some sort drying in the sun. Elephant dung paper. Cool!

We wander the grounds, uncover the retailers, look about, find bathrooms, use them, uncover beverages, have a single and it is all extremely free type. I guess our guide had a deal with on wherever we all had been due to the fact when it was time to stroll to the zoo, we have been all together. Up the hill we head and the following quit is a small industry spot exactly where the women are all in classic village festival attire, extremely colorful. I want to change locations with the guide who is sitting behind the elephants head and not experiencing any of this dipping.

I am making an attempt challenging not to let this panic me. Victor is enjoying my dread and keeps telling me to consider a image of this and that and all I can do is hang on. As soon as I acquire self-confidence that we won’t tumble off the hill, we attain the top. The views are beautiful with terraced fields of vegetables, houses in the distance….But also at the top is in which we start off going down. This is far worse than going up and I feel I just may well tumble out of the tiny chair and land right on best of the guide. I am floundering. Then I think my movements are certain to unsettle the elephant and I will result in our fall. I sit very still via the rest of the ride and really enjoy the 2nd half on fairly flat ground.

When we alight from the lumbering beast we reconnect with our tour manual and head off by means of the terraced fields to our waiting van. Victor tells me it is not a race and that we got far more time on the river than people who passed us, a greater worth for our cash. I am fatigued and want to go residence.

We have all agreed that we do not need to take a walk by way of the jungle to a waterfall that has no water falling and head off to the vans for property. I hope that we have number of stops this time, or are very first off the bus.
